About Our Podcast
Every bottle of wine has its own story to tell, and this podcast - Wines We Drink - is where we tell those stories. This summer project explores our love of wine. In each episode we open a bottle of wine, we drink it and we talk about it through its tastes and textures. A bottle of wine is the complex result of grapes, soil and climate coming together through the skills of the grape grower and the winemaker. The French use the phrase "terroir" to capture all that makes a bottle of wine unique. Our podcast embraces the idea that a bottle of wine transports our senses to the vineyard. We hope our conversations will carry our listeners to California's famous Napa Valley, Oregon's Willamette Valley, France's many lush wine regions, Italy's steep hillsides, or the garden that is South Africa's Western Cape.

We Love the Taste Awards!
Charlotte Varnum and Keith Herndon have strolled the red carpet in Beverly Hills celebrating the success of Wines We Drink in the Taste Awards, a prestigious awards show, which its organizers call "the Oscars of Food, Fashion and Lifestyle Media." Overall, their wine media projects have won four times and earned finalist recognition a dozen times since 2022.

Wines We Drink has recorded many of its episodes on location at Tapped Athens Wine Tasting Market. Owned by Todd and Anglea Hurt, the market features a rotating selection of wines by the glass using a high-tech self-service system. Our co-host, Keith Herndon, serves as a guest sommelier for Tapped and frequently hosts educational wine tastings. Todd Hurt is also a featured interview in our book, Wine Conversations: Exploring Meaning, Mystery and Myth.
