Keith, a co-host of Wines We Drink, created this page to explain the educational resources he has used to expand his wine horizons. Below is a recap of the online certifications, certificates and training programs he has completed in recent years. "These are all excellent resources for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of wine," Keith said. "When I started this educational path, I was surprised to find so many exceptional online resources. There are programs available to fit any journey and any budget."
Keith earned his credentials as an APWASI Certified Sommelier (ACSOM), APWASI Certified Wine Educator (ACWE) and APWASI Certified Wine Specialist (ACWS) by completing a series of courses, exams and projects. He completed courses in Wine Essentials (I and II), U.S. Wines, Sparkling Wines, Port, Sherry and tasting room operations. He also earned the APWASI Certified Spirits Specialist (ACSS) credential by completing courses in Whiskey, Brandy/Cognac and Tequila. A researched white paper completed requirements for the APWASI Certified Spirits Professional (ACSP).
Keith earned the American Wine Expert (AWE) designation after successfully completing the course and exam. He also completed the Wine 101 course, the Discovering Italian Wine course offered in partnership with Italian Wine Central and courses on wines from the Côtes du Rhône and the country of Georgia.
Keith completed the Certified Sherry Wine Specialist course, a program created by The House of Lustau with the support of the Sherry Regulatory Council.
Keith earned the Fine Vintage certification as a Food and Wine Pairing Professional.
Keith holds a Diploma from this academy after completing the program and successfully passing its timed exam.
Keith completed the certificate "World of Wines: From Grapes to Glass" through edX. The course is an introduction to oenology and viticulture and features a virtual winemaking tool. Keith's virtual Rielsing captured a Gold Medal!
